Pluto would have protected me even if I hadn't been a girl. The bigger guys probably would have just dragged me out of the range of anger and put themselves between me and the band guy if I'd been male. Of course, there shouldn't have been a need for that either. And after that day, I aimed for the woodwind section when walking through the bands. On the one hand, I'm very glad you had Pluto to protect you, but I wish it wouldn't have been necessary for him to profess your gender. It still amazes me how much people can't accept love in all its forms, regardless of gender. I hope that people do change and grow and that if nothing else, the next generation might have a better chance. I can’t imagine being in that position.
